About this event.

Welcome to The South African Derby 2019.

Now in its 54th year, the annual South African Derby is one of the most prestigious events on the South African equestrian calendar. It is an event rich in history and provides the backdrop to one of the toughest competitions for any equestrian athlete. It showcases our top South African talent jumping fences of 1.50M and higher and is one of the most sought after titles of every rider’s career.

Attended by over 5000 people over the weekend, this event sees the general public and riding worlds gather for a day of nail biting competition, VIP hospitality, entertainment and equine excellence.

Whilst the highlight of the annual SA Derby weekend is certainly the 1000m, 18 obstacle course on the Sunday where our top horse and rider combinations battle it out for the coveted and sought after title of SA Derby champion, competitors also vie for top honors in the Dressage, and Showing disciplines.  We look forward to seeing who will walk away with these very prestigious accolades this year. Witness it live and join us at the 2019 SA Derby @ Kyalami Equestrian Park, hosted by Kyalami Park Club.
